Mrs Anastacia Makati is currently a GIS Technician at the Okavango Research Institute. She received her BSc (Hons) in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) at Kingston University London. Since her undergraduate studies she has started publishing research papers in areas of GIS and remote sensing applications. Her field of expertise includes; geospatial data analysis, Remote Sensing, Spatial Statistics, R Statistics, Python and 3D modelling using Sketch Up and web design. She is also competent in image processing software’s such as ENVI and ERDAS as well working with big data on cloud computing using Google Earth Engine. Her everyday duties as GIS technician are to provide technical support to graduate students and academic staff at ORI and to extend services to other external researchers and the community. Other duties include collection of raw GPS data as well as creation and management of geographic databases.
